So, you have decided to get yourself a company in the form of a dog. If you love dogs then the breed boxer is for you. A boxer is a medium sized dog with a tight fit coat and strong limbs. Their face generally resembles a bulldog. The tales are docked and sometimes their ears too. But they normally have drop ears. Alertness is what can be seen on their very face itself. Boxers are highly adjustable and can adjust in almost any kind of environment. ‘A people’s dog’ is what a boxer is because it has a tendency to behave well enough with people and even the other dogs too. Boxer – the breed is popular all over. Boxers die to play and are a good companion to the elders as well as the children.

Boxer males are generally 22.5 to 25 inches and female boxers are 21 to 23.5 inches in height with male boxers weighing 65 to 80 lbs and female boxers weighing 50 to 65 lbs. They generally have a black patch on their faces. Sometimes pure white puppies are born, but this rarely happens. Their coat is smooth, shiny and easy to take care of.

One generally finds a boxer as playful, affectionate, friendly and highly energetic. They are loyal and take training as something serious. Their masters do not need to command them again and again as they are highly obedient. The funny thing is that because of their loving nature they sometimes tend to forget their size and age and behave as a puppy while with the family. So, do not blame them for dropping things here and there while they imagine themselves as a new born puppy. You would love it when they will play with you like that. Boxers are active and stay on guard on saying any strange dog or any unidentified personality.

Boxers do not bother children and are quite affectionate and playful in their company. Precautions should not be neglected keeping in mind the dog’s attitude. They go well with certain dog breeds but not the ones whom they figure out as strange. You can grow a boxer dog as a family pet or a dog on guard. Boxers are awesome watch dogs as they tend to feel aggressive won seeing an unidentified human or dog.

Training is a must for a boxer along with well fenced back ground. This is a highly energetic breed and hence needs proper exercise in the form of long walks and games. Nails have to be regularly trimmed as a part of grooming. Boxers have a tendency to learn at a faster rate being highly intelligent. So, be willing to spend a great amount of time with them and observe immense results. Plus, hey are highly active. So, do not think that the dog is tired if you get exhausted. Attention and exercise is what needs to be conducted regularly.

Boxers love to spend time with the family, so prefer indoors but having a playful nature may want to go out. There life span is generally eight to twelve years.
